Mr Bear Says a Spoonful for You (Board Books - Gliori)

Mr. Bear is the best
We first found Mr. Bear To The Rescue, by the same author, which is a terrific book, as well as Mr. Bear's Picnic. Those are longer books, good for bedtime stories. These little board books
are short, good for toddlers, super cute illustrations. I love Mr. Bear and Baby Bear and so does my daughter.

A wonderful find!
My daughter recieved this book, along with Mr. Bear says "Good Night" when she was born. We read them to her almost every night, along with a stack of others. My daughter is now 2 1/2 years old, and she still asks for this one. Even when we're away from home (& the book) I tell her the story at bedtime and she's happy. These books make great gifts too! I've given several to new moms and they all love them.

Mr Bear to the Rescue

A delightful picturebook story and highly recommended
Mr. Bear has a very kind heart, a somewhat clumsy step, and a very resourceful wife. One night he and his wife are sung in their bed on a wild and windy night when they hear their neighbor Rabbit-Bunn cry out that the warren has collapsed. The wind has also knocked down the owl next, the beehive is ruined, and bunny baby Flora can't be found anywhere. Mr. Bear heads out into the storm to the rescue. Mr. Bear To The Rescue is a delightful picturebook story and highly recommended, entertaining reading for young children preschool through first grade.

My Bears' Counting House
Published in Hardcover by Michael O'Mara Books (October, 1995)
Authors: Gina Bencraft and Ray Mutimer
Average review score:

Wonderful introduction to numbers!
A colorful and fun series of number books, with one number per book. The number 3 book, for example, has three of almost everything on the pages - makes it fun to look for things, and kids really learn what "three" means. The small size and focussed topic make them great for small hands. My daughters both loved these books well before they were 1, and continued reading them until past age 4. Actually, now that #1 is starting to read, she'll probably use these for reading practice too! That's a lot of use out of one set of books!

My Bears' Schoolhouse

The Bears are adorable, educational, & just a bit British
This collection is fantastic! It contains six books all featuring the same classroom of bears. The illustrations are straightforward, simplified yet realistically drawn. These books have something for all ages. My infant was fascinated by the pretty schoolhouse container box. My 18 month old can pick out the repeat characters. Preschoolers will be able to learn concepts like colours, addition, and telling time. Plus, you get to chuckle at a few Britishisms, like a landscape featuring meadows, hedgehogs, and children who "tidy up". Very cute!

My Brown Bear Barney at the Party
Published in Library Binding by Greenwillow (February, 2001)
Authors: Dorothy Butler and Elizabeth Fuller
Average review score:

Wonderfully illustrated by Elizabeth Fuller
In Dorothy Butler's delightful picturebook story, My Brown Bear Barney At The Party, Barney's young owner takes him to Harold Hinkel's birthday party. The trouble begins when Harold's little sister thinks Barney is her present! She decorates Barney with the paints that Harold got for his birthday and then drops him into the aquarium! And that's how Barney arrived back home much cleaner than when he left! Wonderfully illustrated by Elizabeth Fuller, My Brown Bear Barney At The Party is a recommended picturebook for youngsters ages 4 and up. Also highly recommended are Dorothy Butler's earlier teddybear Barney picturebooks: My Bear Barney and My Brown Bear Barney In Trouble.

Mr Wolf and the Three Bears
Published in Paperback by Egmont Childrens Books (15 February, 2002)
Author: Jan Fearnley
Average review score:

surprisingly macabre
Mr. Wolf throws a birthday bash for Baby Bear and Goldilocks crashes the party as the world's rudest guest. Poor ignorant Goldilocks is dealt a surprisingly macabre punishment for a children's story.
This is a fractured fairy tale in the tradition of Grimm's originals: a moral lesson is taught through violence. While older students will appreciate the sly humor, this is story that could scare the daylights out of some preschoolers. Primary colors and cuddly creatures suggest a toddler audience, while the plot and theme are more appropriate for early elementary school students. The tea party recipes are a charming addition, but too cutesy for the startling ending. Teachers may find the story useful for a unit on fractured fairy tales, but this one is so broken, best to proceed with caution.

Mr. Wolf is back!
As a fan of Fearnley's Mr. WOLF'S PANCAKES, I was curious to see what would be cooked up in this sequal. This time it's birthday cake! When Mr. Wolf and his Granny host a birthday party for Baby Bear, they plan for a perfect day. Then that rude and naughty Goldilocks shows up. Granny has obviously handled such beastly children before, so this visit is a piece of cake.

Fearnley fans won't be disappointed at the outcome!
